Hi, I'm Venetia...

Mummy to Amélie and Aviana as well as founder and teacher at Happy Little Hands!

I’m a qualified specialist teacher with 24 years of experience teaching sign language.

When I was made redundant in 2017, the same week I gave birth to my youngest daughter, I decided to follow my passion for teaching sign language and Happy Little Hands was born!

I use Sign Supported English (SSE) in my classes, which means I teach British Sign Language (BSL) signs in spoken English order.

This makes my classes perfect for promoting both speech and signing whilst promoting inclusion. I incorporate songs, stories, and puppets to make learning fun, following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum to ensure sessions are educational too.

I absolutely love what I do! There is nothing more special than seeing little ones sign to their parents for the first time, it’s the most wonderful feeling.

My own daughter signed ‘mummy’ at just seven months old, and it was an incredible moment!

My classes are about more than just learning signs; they’re about support, connection, and fun. I want every family to feel welcomed and valued from the moment they walk through the door! Making friends and finding support is so important for little ones-and for grownups too! I love helping families connect and creating opportunities for them to build those relationships.
